We are seeking a Global Supply Chain Specialist, based in Troy, Michigan.

Responsibilities:

The post-holder will:

Manage existing sales and customer relations.

Grow the customer base and provide technical expertise.

Provide supply chain expertise and 

Explore new business opportunities with a key focus in the product/business lines of Pentanes, Aromatics and Performance Fuels.  

Day-to-day responsibilities include

Manage the entire logistics processes from arranging customer deliveries and confirming with the customer through complete delivery of the order. 

Represent the HCS Group in connection with the customer, freight providers, and third-party storage facilities and providers. 

Manage inventories, create deliveries, tender shipments to freight providers and third-party storage facilities, and tracking/tracing procedures to ensure on-time delivery to the customer. 

Receive and validate freight provider invoices, assigning costs to the corresponding customer order for accounting clearance, and resolving any claims associated with customer orders. 

Work closely with the commercial team to ensure any additional freight charges occurring on a customer order is invoiced back to the customer, if agreed upon with the commercial team and customer. 

Ensure supply is available in accordance with agreed service levels and manage any issues related to order delivery. 

Accurately create and receive stock movements and assist in the processing of customer complaints/service failures (SIR requests). 

Develop and implement strategies for reducing freight costs while maintaining exceptional service levels for customers. 

Maintain data integrity and update SAP as changes to orders/deliveries occur. 

Liaise with internal contacts located both in the U.S. and Europe on all logistical matters. 

Assist the local sales team in growing the business including but not limited to: conducting market research on potential new customers and increasing market intelligence. 

Provide support to the local management and sales team as required. 

Provide up-to-date monitoring of sales volumes in HCS reporting systems, e.g. Salesforce and SAP. 

Comply with all company policies including those concerning health and safety regulations. 

Involves 5% domestic and less than 5% international travel to visit client and supplier sites.

Required Skills and Experience:

2 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry that involved: auditing customer storage, transportation, and processing facilities to ensure they are equipped to safely handle heavy aromatic solvents and performance fuels , including for compliance with global fire and process safety codes, including REACH (Europe), TSCA (U.S.), GHS standards for hazardous materials; managing logistics data, strategies (including identification and mitigation of risks), and operations for international, multi-modal shipments of heavy aromatic solvents and performance fuels, including compliance with international transport regulations (IMDG, ADR, and IATA), negotiation of demurrage clauses in international shipping agreements, and managing international customs clearance and export/import regulations; development of custom SAP master data transaction codes and workflows for hazardous materials as well as use of SAP-based solutions for planning, tracking, and modeling of shipments and inventory levels as well as financial transactions; interpreting customer requirements for quality, purity, solvency, and regulatory compliance regarding bespoke chemical products; utilization of Salesforce customer relationship management, customer data management, analytics, and reports solutions; and utilization of MS Office VBA for macro development and MS Office Excel for analysis design.
