We are seeking an enthusiastic, diligent and experienced individual to join our engineering team here at our Harwich site. This is an exciting opportunity to join as Electrical and Controls  Project Engineer joining a highly skilled team.
 
The Electrical and Controls Project Engineer will be an integral member of the EC&I Department with a view to manage electrical, instrumentation and control system projects at the Harwich Manufacturing Centre. To deliver safe and reliable operation and modification of new and existing plant and equipment.


Responsibilities

  • The design, build, commission and validation of new projects and modification of existing plant to current standards in particular COMAH regulations.
  • The design of motor control circuits and control systems for process control.
  • The design and calculation of cable circuits both LV and hazardous area.
  • The specification of equipment suitable for required application and zoning.
  • The management and planning of resources, materials and other deliverables.
    The drafting of control system specifications, control diagrams, operational and safety parameters.
  • The production of validation documentation of plant and control systems.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, internal customers and stakeholders both verbal and reporting.
  • Negotiate deliverables and costs with suppliers and contactors. Manage cost and progress against agreed targets. 
  • Documentation – ensure all engineering inspection and modification activity is recorded in an appropriate manner and communicated to relevant parties. 
  • To carry out all activities safely with due regard to others on the site.
  • Comply with all rules, policies and procedures on the site, including prescribed limits within relevant permits and licences as appropriate
  • To comply with all processes and procedures covered by accreditation to ISO9001, 50001, 14001 and 45001
  • To act in accordance with the requirements of the COMAH Safety Report 
  • To act in accordance with the requirements of the Emergency Plan

Qualifications and Experience

  • Design Experience of electrical systems maintenance and testing including HV, LV,  18th edition, and hazardous areas to EN60079
  • Experience of PLC and DCS control and field instrumentation including intrinsically safe circuits.
  • Good organisational and man management skills plus experience with maintenance management systems, controlling contactors and operating within a CDM environment.
  • Technical knowledge and planning skills including assessment of method statements and risk assessments
  • Experience in managing capital projects and/or major shutdowns
  • Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation and company procedures
  • Experience of monitoring and audit activity
  • Experience of management of change, 
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, maintenance management system, project handover documentation, operator and maintenance training
